Jesus tells Nicodemus that entering the Kingdom isn't about fixing up your life, but about receiving a new life 'from above', the work of the Spirit, like a second birth.
From religious to reborn
Nicodemus was at the top of the religious world and still needed to be born again. No amount of spiritual baggage replaces the new heart that only God gives.
Application
You don't need to fix yourself before you come; you need to be born again. Ask God for new life, not just better habits.
