Fisherman, disciple, rock
A Galilean fisherman who confessed Jesus as the Christ, walked on water, denied Him three times, was restored and preached at Pentecost.
The impulsive one
Peter is the one who speaks first and gets it badly wrong: he confesses Jesus as the Christ and minutes later is rebuked; he swears loyalty and denies him three times.
The fall
On the night of the arrest, he warms himself in the courtyard and denies knowing Jesus three times. When the rooster crows, his eyes meet the Lord’s and he weeps bitterly.
The restoration
By the sea, Jesus asks him three questions of love, one for each denial, and restores him: “Feed My sheep.” At Pentecost, he preaches and three thousand believe.
