Called while still young, he announced judgment and exile with tears, and the promise of the new covenant written on the heart.
The weeping prophet
Called while still young ('I am only a child!'), Jeremiah announced for 40 years a judgment no one wanted to hear, suffering rejection, prison and loneliness, which is why he is called 'the weeping prophet'.
The new covenant
In the middle of collapse, he announced the greatest of hopes: a new covenant, with the Law written 'on their hearts' and the forgiveness of sins, which Jesus would inaugurate at the Last Supper.
