David
The king from whom the Messiah would come
A shepherd anointed king in Bethlehem; from his line the Messiah is born, called “Son of David.”
The youngest who became king
The youngest son and a shepherd, anointed when no one believed in him. He defeats Goliath by trusting God and reigns over Israel from Jerusalem.
Saint and sinner
He commits adultery and orders a killing, but repents deeply (Psalm 51). God promises him an eternal throne, fulfilled in Jesus, “the Son of David.”
