The agony in Gethsemane
“Not My will, but Yours be done”
On the eve of the cross, Jesus prays in such anguish that He sweats like drops of blood: “not My will, but Yours be done.” There He is betrayed by Judas with a kiss and arrested (Luke 22).
The real weight
In the garden, Jesus sweats “like drops of blood” and asks for the “cup” to pass. This is no stoic death: it is true anguish in the face of suffering.
“Not My will”
The prayer ends in surrender: “Yet not My will, but Yours be done.” Jesus’ “yes” reverses the “no” of Eden.
