Samuel Listens to God
A Bible story for kids ages 3–8. Read it together, do the actions and talk at the end.
The boy Samuel lived in God's house and helped the priest Eli, who was very old.
👉 Bow like a helper: hand on your chest and head down low!
One night, God's lamp was still lit. Samuel was lying down, almost asleep…
👉 Rest your head on your hands and yawn: aaaahh!
Suddenly, a voice: “Samuel!” He answered, “Here I am.” And he ran to Eli.
👉 Jump up quickly and say: Here I am!
But Eli said: I didn't call you, go back to bed. This happened one, two, three times!
👉 Count on your fingers: one, two, three times!
Then Eli understood: it was God calling the boy! And he taught Samuel what to answer.
God called again: “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant is listening.”
👉 Put your hand behind your ear, like someone listening closely!
A servant is someone who serves and helps. Samuel was saying: God, go ahead and speak, I'm listening!
In the morning, Samuel opened the doors of God's house and told Eli everything, without hiding anything.
👉 Open pretend doors with both arms: creeeak!
Samuel grew up, and God was with him. All the people knew: Samuel listened to God and spoke His words!
👉 Stand on tiptoe: look how Samuel grew!
Verse: “Speak, for Your servant is listening.” (1 Samuel 3:10)
