Naaman and the Jordan River

A Bible story for kids ages 3–8. Read it together, do the actions and talk at the end.

  1. Naaman was the commander of Aram's army. He was strong and important, but he had a skin disease called leprosy.

👉 Strike a strong pose and show your muscles!

  2. In his house worked a girl who had come from far away, from the land of Israel. She helped Naaman's wife.

👉 Wave hello to the girl!

  3. The girl said: in Israel there is a prophet of God. He can heal my master!

👉 Raise your finger, like someone with a great idea!

  4. Naaman traveled with horses, chariots and gifts. He came to the door of the prophet Elisha's house.

    👉 Gallop in place: clip-clop, clip-clop!

  5. Elisha sent a message: “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan.” The Jordan is a river.

👉 Pretend to read a note: hmm, hmm…

  6. Naaman got angry! He thought the prophet would do something grand. Just wash in the river? Humph!

👉 Cross your arms and say: humph!

  7. His helpers said kindly: if it were something hard, you would do it. Why not do this simple thing?

👉 Nod your head yes: let's try!

  8. So Naaman went down to the river and dipped: one, two, three, four, five, six… SEVEN times! Splash!

👉 Hold your nose and dip seven times: splash!

  9. And his skin became smooth, like the skin of a little child! Naaman was healed!

👉 Rub your arm: smooth, so smooth!

  10. Naaman came back happy and said: now I know there is only one true God! And a girl helped make it happen!

👉 Clap your hands for the brave girl!

Today's truth: God is mighty and kind, and He even uses children to show His love.

Verse: “his flesh was restored and became like that of a little child” (2 Kings 5:14)
