David and the Giant
A Bible story for kids ages 3–8. Read it together, do the actions and talk at the end.
David was Jesse's youngest son. He took care of his father's sheep in the field. Baaaa!
👉 Say baaa like the sheep!
There was a war. On the other side of the valley stood Goliath, a giant warrior in shiny bronze armor.
Every day Goliath shouted: send someone to fight me! Israel's soldiers shook with fear.
👉 Stand on tiptoe and puff out your chest, like a giant!
David brought bread and cheese to his brothers at the camp. There he heard Goliath shout, and he wasn't afraid.
David told King Saul: I'll go! God saved me from the lion and the bear, and He will save me now.
👉 Roar like a lion and then growl like a bear!
Saul lent David his armor. But it was so big and heavy that David could hardly walk! Clink, clank!
👉 Walk around the room all clumsy, like your clothes are super heavy!
David took it all off. He picked up his staff, his sling and five smooth stones from the stream.
👉 Count the little stones on your fingers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5!
David said to Goliath, “I come against you in the name of the LORD of Hosts.” That means: God is with me!
David swung his sling: whoosh, whoosh! The stone flew and hit Goliath on the forehead. The giant fell down: BOOM!
👉 Swing your arm like a sling: whoosh, whoosh! And fall down on your bottom: BOOM!
The soldiers cheered! Everyone saw that the battle is the Lord's, and that God helps even little ones.
👉 Jump and clap: God is bigger!
Verse: “for the battle is the LORD’s” (1 Samuel 17:47)
