Released from debt
The heart of the gospel: God, in Christ, cancels the debt of sin and restores the relationship. From “Father, forgive them” on the cross to the restoration of Peter, forgiveness received becomes forgiveness offered.
Released from a debt
To forgive is to give up the right to collect. In the Kingdom, those who have been forgiven so much by God learn to forgive others.
