Pontius Pilate
The governor who washed his hands
Roman prefect of Judea, known for his harshness. At the trial he declared he found no guilt in Jesus, but, pressured by the crowd and fearing Rome, he washed his hands and handed Him over to be crucified, having the title “King of the Jews” fixed to the cross.
