The tax collector who was called
A tax collector in Capernaum, despised for serving Rome. When he heard “Follow Me,” Levi left the tax booth and threw a banquet for sinners to introduce them to Jesus. Traditionally the author of the first Gospel, which shows Jesus as the King promised to Israel.
