A blind beggar cries out for mercy despite the crowd; Jesus stops, calls him and heals him, and he begins to follow him.
The story
Blind Bartimaeus shouts, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” The crowd tells him to be quiet; he shouts even louder. Jesus stops, calls him and heals him, and he follows him along the road.
The meaning
Faith insists despite the silence forced on it. And Bartimaeus’ response to healing is discipleship: following Jesus.
