The Rich Man and Lazarus
Two destinies
An indifferent rich man and a beggar at his gate; after death, the chasm, and the value of listening to the Scriptures.
Two worlds separated by a gate
A rich man lives in luxury, ignoring Lazarus, a starving beggar at his gate. Death turns everything around: Lazarus is comforted; the rich man is in torment.
The last word is the Word
The rich man asks for someone to come back from the dead to warn his brothers. The answer: 'If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead'.
