Joseph and the Colorful Robe
A Bible story for kids ages 3–8. Read it together, do the actions and talk at the end.
Jacob had many sons. He loved Joseph very much and made him a robe of many colors!
👉 Point to the colors on your clothes: red, blue, yellow!
One night, Joseph dreamed that the sun, the moon and eleven stars bowed down to him. What a strange dream!
👉 Lie down, close your eyes and snore: zzzzz… Now wake up!
His brothers got jealous. They couldn't even talk to Joseph nicely.
👉 Make a grumpy face… now switch it for a big smile!
One day, the brothers took Joseph's robe and sold him to some travelers with camels.
👉 Sway your body like a walking camel: clip-clop, clip-clop!
Joseph ended up far away, in Egypt. But God was with him the whole time!
God gave Joseph wisdom. He became governor of Egypt and saved food for the hard times.
👉 Put an imaginary crown on your head and walk nice and tall!
A huge famine came. Joseph's brothers traveled to Egypt to buy food, not knowing it was him!
👉 Rub your tummy and go: grumble, grumble!
Joseph couldn't hold back. He cried out loud and said, “I am Joseph!” His brothers were speechless.
👉 Make a surprised face: mouth open and eyes wide!
Joseph forgave his brothers and hugged them. God turned the bad into good and took care of the whole family!
👉 Give a big, tight hug to whoever is with you!
Verse: “it was to save lives that God sent me before you.” (Genesis 45:5)

- Have you ever felt jealous of someone? What can we do with that feeling?
- Joseph forgave his brothers. What is it like to forgive someone?
