Jesus and Jairus's Daughter
A Bible story for kids ages 3–8. Read it together, do the actions and talk at the end.
Jesus got out of the boat, and a huge crowd came to meet Him by the sea.
👉 Run in place to go meet Jesus!
A dad named Jairus came and knelt at Jesus' feet. He was very worried.
👉 Kneel down very slowly, like Jairus.
Jairus begged: my little daughter is very sick. Please come and put Your hands on her!
👉 Put your hands together and ask: please, Jesus!
Jesus went with him right away. The people pushed and squeezed… Excuse me! Excuse me!
👉 Walk sideways, saying: excuse me!
On the way, a sad message came: no need to bother the Teacher anymore. They thought it was too late.
👉 Make a sad little face… but wait, the story isn't over!
But Jesus looked at Jairus and said, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”
👉 Put your hand on someone's shoulder and say: don't be afraid!
At the house, many people were crying. Jesus said the girl was only sleeping, and asked everyone to leave.
👉 Put your finger on your lips: shhh…
Jesus went into the room with the dad, the mom and three friends: Peter, James and John.
👉 Count the three friends on your fingers!
Jesus took the girl by the hand and said, “Talitha koum!” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”
👉 Reach out your hand gently, like Jesus did.
Right away, the girl got up and walked! And Jesus told them to give her something to eat. What joy!
👉 Jump up and spin around!
Verse: “Do not be afraid; just believe.” (Mark 5:36)
To talk about with your child
- How do you think Jairus felt when his daughter got up?
- When you feel afraid, what can you say to Jesus?
Mission of the week: When someone is sick, say a prayer for that person, with love.
