Brave Queen Esther
A Bible story for kids ages 3–8. Read it together, do the actions and talk at the end.
Esther was a young Jewish woman, lovingly cared for by her cousin Mordecai. One day, she became queen!
👉 Put an imaginary crown on your head!
But a proud man named Haman made an evil plan against Esther's people.
Mordecai was very sad. He asked: Esther, go talk to the king and ask for help for your people!
But there was a rule: no one could come near the king without being called. It was very dangerous!
Mordecai said, “And who knows if perhaps you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
👉 Think hard, with your finger on your chin: hmmm…
Esther asked the people to fast, which means going without food to seek God. And she said, “After that, I will go to the king.”
👉 Fold your hands and ask God for courage.
On the third day, Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the palace courtyard. Thump, thump, went her heart!
👉 Put your hand on your chest and go: thump, thump!
The king saw Esther and held out the gold scepter. Phew! She could come near! Esther touched the tip of the scepter.
👉 Stretch out your arm, like the king holding out the scepter!
At a banquet, Esther was brave: she told the king about Haman's evil plan and asked for her people's lives.
The king had a new letter written to protect the people. There was light, joy and celebration! God used Esther's courage.
👉 Jump and shout for joy: hooray!
Verse: “who knows if perhaps you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)
