Abraham Counts the Stars
A Bible story for kids ages 3–8. Read it together, do the actions and talk at the end.
Abram was a very old man. He loved God, but he was sad: he didn't have any children.
👉 Stroke a pretend beard, nice and slow, like a grandpa!
One night, God spoke to Abram: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield.”
👉 Cross your arms in front of you, like a shield!
Abram told God what made his heart sad: Lord, I still don't have any children!
👉 Show with your hand: zero children!
God promised: you will have a son, yes! A little boy of your very own!
👉 Rock a pretend baby in your arms.
Then God took Abram outside the tent. Up above, the sky was full of stars!
👉 Look up and say: wooow!
God said, “Now look to the heavens and count the stars, if you are able.”
👉 Count stars on your fingers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5… they never end!
And God added, “So shall your offspring be.” That means: your family will be huge, like the starry sky!
👉 Open and close your hands, twinkling like little stars!
Abram couldn't count so many stars. But he believed God! He trusted the promise with all his heart.
👉 Put your hand on your heart and say: I trust God!
And God kept His promise! Years later, baby Isaac was born. Today, people all over the world are part of this family of faith!
👉 Clap your hands: God keeps His promises!
Verse: “Now look to the heavens and count the stars” (Genesis 15:5)
To talk about with your child
